The apartment complex is situated in Vilnius old town quarter which was called the suburb of st. Steponas. The name was given from st. Steponas church build in XVI. According to the regulation of old town preservation there are three eclectic stile industrial buildings in the site. The primer function of those building was flourmill with storage and administrative rooms. Supposedly, the territory with buildings was used as ammunition storehouses in World War I and II. According to the regulation of old town preservation and the detailed site plan there was designed the apartment complex consisted of 9 blocks A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K. Preserved blocks of XIX century are reconstructed and adapted to 2-3 floors cottages (G, H, K). The new blocks (A, B, C, D, E, and F) are 4-5 floors. Different high of blocks divide the complex to separate semi closed courts remindful to old town transitive courts. The bridge designed next to block G reminds gallery houses typical to this part of the old town. In the interior of the car park under the site we can see fragments of dug out tunnels. In the competition organized by internet portal „City24.lt ” in apartment category the complex “Stepono devintukas” was awarder “Project of the Year 2008”.
